Brief biography:
Prabir Barooah was born in Jorhat, Assam (india). He received
the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2007
from the University of California, Santa Barbara. From 1999 to
2002 he was a research engineer at United Technologies Research
Center, East Hartford, CT. He received the M. S. degree in
Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1999
and the B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian
Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in 1996. Dr. Barooah is the
winner of the best paper award at the 2nd Int. Conf. on
Intelligent Sensing and Information Processing, and a 2003 NASA
group achievement award.
Research summary:
My research interests are in estimation and control of
interconnected systems. In particular, my research group
explores distributed algorithms and their performance limits in
large scale sensor networks, and design of decentralized
control algorithms for cooperative control in multi-agent
robotic networks. More details can be found here. (Note to potential graduate
students: the best place to get an idea of someone's
current research is the list of his/her recent publications. In
my case, it's here.)
Teaching:
Spring '08: Optimal Estimation (EGM 6934)
